Fall Ball

1. What is Fall Ball?

Fall ball is organized baseball played during the fall / winter season, it is extra baseball for those players that want to improve their skills and or are looking for more opportunities to play the game!

2. Who do we play?

We play against other baseball organizations with teams in the same age group!

3.Where do we play?

Games can be scheduled in many places but at this time we have two teams scheduled to play every Saturday at the Valley Christian Athletic Association in the Van Nuys area! We are also scheduling games with a few other local leagues to play on Sundays starting in October!

4. How many games do we play?

The current schedule is two teams for ten weeks for a total of twenty games between our two teams. There will also be games on some Sundays as well as tournaments. There will be plenty of games for each player!

5. What team will I be on?

All the players can be placed on either team depending on their availability as well as team requirements! We mix and match players to games to make sure we are prepared for competition as well as to insure that all players get quality playing time. We try and match the player to the team and the team to the opponent as best as possible!

6. What ages can play?

The current program is for ages 12 to 14! If you are a 12 year old becoming a 13 year old you are old enough. If you played as a 14 year old this past season you are still OK to play!

7. What are the rules?

This is Professional baseball rules played on a Pro sized field. Generally we play by High School rules which are modified Pro rules scaled to suit younger players that promote safety.

8. Do we steal bases and take leadoffs?

Yes, just like the pros do! If you don’t know how yet we will teach you.

9. Do we wear metal cleats?

Yep! You can wear plastic if you want to but you won’t want to!

10. Do I need a different bat?

Generally, the younger players have Little League bats that are lighter than our bats. Depending on your size, you will want to upgrade to a High School bat which is BESR certified. These bats are 3 ounces lighter than they are long a 32/29 for example is 32 inches long and weighs 29 ounces. If you are on the small side, you will want a transitional bat that is designed for making the transition from Little League to Big League! These bats are 5 ounces lighter than they are long!

11. How much does it cost?

The Fall program cost $150.00 which includes all the Saturday and Sunday “regular” games. We may enter into tournaments from time to time that are outside of the “regular” games and when we do we divide that cost up amongst the players. This is usually $20.00 or less for a weekend of games.

12. Are there any other costs?

Each player needs to buy their own uniform which consists of cleats, white pants, Navy blue socks, Navy blue belt, Navy blue undershirt (if you want one), and a jersey. Our jerseys cost $65.00 and are custom made for each player so they fit and they get their name on the back so they keep it forever.

13. Do you have regular practices?

Yes, we currently practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays with games on Saturdays and Sundays.

14. How do we know when and where practices and games are?

We have a web based calendar system that is tied into our leagues website. The system provides dates and times of events such as games and practices as well as details for the event such as maps and directions to the events. The system also provides automated Email and text messaging notifications to all the players and parents to keep everyone informed of events.

15. Can I help Coach?

Absolutely. We are seriously dedicated to building a strong and friendly baseball family. We encourage parents to participate in every way they can. If you have the desire but lack the knowledge to coach we will teach you how. We also count on Mom’s to help with all sorts of things, some even keep the score book at the games (and really enjoy doing it). Of course Mom’s can coach too
